Established in mid of 2005, Solar Electrical Vehicles (SEV) was developed to increase a precise solar charging program for Hybrid Electric Vehicles that supplies increased electric driving range and improved fuel economy.
Greg Johanson has founded the SEV with more than twenty years of expertise in the solar electric vehicle business, SEV will be the sister firm to the largest and oldest systems integrator of solar energy systems Solar Electrical Systems, in Southern California.
The Solar Electric Vehicle program was created and engineered as a simple to set up (two to three hours) integrated accessory program with a custom molded low-level profile solar module, supplementary battery pack as well as a tested charge controlling system.
The SEV program generates power from sunlight and changes this energy to high energy which is utilized to charge the additional battery as well as the Hybrid Vehicle (HV) battery power. This enables the Hybrid Vehicle to work for longer driving range in the electric mode.
Using the SEV solar program, the Toyota Prius can run as much as 30 miles daily in electric mode thus enhancing gas mileage by up to 34-60% (depending on driving habits and scenarios).
SEV worked with leading solar business suppliers to develop the technologies and materials for the solar module and it has invested several hundred thousand dollars to develop this patent pending technology.
SEV engineered, designed and manufactured the system to overcome the inherent limitations from the original equipment program and take full advantage of renewable energy being an option energy source.
