Why drive an electric-car? The overarching reason that hits our homes with environmentalists, conservationists and the average user is few things : Peak gas prices. Electric cars tend to use nothing other than electric charge. It requires less maintenance, very little impact on environment and it majorly requires electricity equivalent to 60 cents per gallon.
Do the Research
Before buying an electric car you might be willing to research first. Vehicle purchase requires hefty down payment and monthly payments. Investigation is the best idea for getting a new vehicle, its reliability and maintenance costs gives the benefits of a rough figure of the overall purchase.
Vehicle Type
With buying an electric car there arrives two basic questions : which one to get for yourself an all-electric car or a hybrid car. One totally runs on electricity and the other one has a fossil fuel or gasoline engine to supplement the electric charge. Hybrid electric-car offers a plug in alternative so as to recharge the batteries when the car is not in motion. All electric-car cannot move without electric power and needs a charging station to recharge the car batteries.
Incentives For Electric-Car Buyers
Electric cars are more expensive than traditional Fossil fuel cars, and the government offers extra incentives to offset the high cost. Currently all tax payers in United States are offered around $7,500 tax credit. Tax payers with minimum liability can lease the electric-car and receive $7,500 for the payment of lease immediately.
Chevrolet and Nissan have electric-car that can be leased as of today. The car incentives will remain for every car until the car manufacturers sells minimum of 200,000 models.
Battery Charging
Electric-cars are charged in two different ways, braking technology and simple electrical plug-in. California is planning for highways full of electric charging stations. One can even install charging stations at home which costs $2,000 and the Federal government offers a tax credit upto $1,000 to help defray the expenses.
