During the muscle car era, the cars that drove almost all the racers crazy were the radical ‘Mopar Cars’. These cars were intelligently modified with the racing hardware and add on accessories by Chrysler Corporation that gave it a fantastic look and performance to the racers.

By producing these radical cars, Chrysler impressed many racers and attracted huge number of fan base. They engineered an opportunity to enhance the vehicle for racing and gearing technology that created wonders.

Chrysler used a light weight metal sheets to hide the modified hardware such as an engine of a 426 max wedge to a Dodge Polara. To terrorize the competition, these cars were then taken out on the local drag strip in 60’s. Detroit was the hottest and the safest place to debut these fast street cars and blow somebody’s door off. Not many people gave attention to these vehicles initially, apart from a handful bunch of racers. By the end of the show, Mopar cars achieved great success and appreciation that resulted in its large consumer base.

Following the winning formula, Chrysler manufactured many impressive racer cars with light and heavy engines using 413 cubic inch wedge head engine and 413 max wedge engines into the Plymouth Belvedere and Dodge Dart 330 models. With these revolutionary engines and incredible horse power capabilities, Chrysler developed more and more Mopars that influenced the entire generation of street muscle cars competing against strong players such as Studebaker, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Chevy and Ford. Mopars relied on sheer horse power and used fiberglass and light weight aluminum for its body parts.

Mopar vehicles were not only the racing cars that dominated the sports world during the muscle car era but they are also the wonderful street cars. They have carved their image in the performance as well as design sectors. Through these years many cars with modern technology were developed which were both creative as well as luxurious, but the legendary Plymouths and Dodges Mopars of 60’s still holds a place in peoples’ hearts. The popularity of Mopars has made them one of the most famous vintage cars of America.
