Toyota 2000 GT is a front-engine, limited production hardtop coupe, designed by Toyota in cooperation with Yamaha. It was first displayed at the 1965 Tokyo Motor Show. The car was manufactured under contract by Yamaha between 1967 and 1970.

The 2000 GT made its most famous screen appearance in James Bond movie, You Only Live Twice in 1967. Most of the scenes of the movie were filmed in Japan. At the time of production of the movie, only a couple of Coupe prototypes had been built. Toyota completed to pair of cars within two frantic weeks. Both the cars were completed in White with Black cockpits.

Each car from both the Roadsters was equipped with a set of wire wheels. One of these cars would be used for filming whereas other would act as a back-up. The film car was fitted out with a variety of gadgets and the back-up car was equipped with a largely standard interior.

The filmed car was driven by Sean Connery as James Bond in "You Only Live Twice". The 2000 Roadster appeared in three scenes of You Only Live Twice. Meanwhile, the back-up car with its standard interior was used for promotional purposes and displayed at the Geneva Salon in March 1967.

The Toyota 2000 GT Roadster was powered by a dual overhead camshaft straight six engine with a displacement of two-litres. It boasted 150 bhp and a five-speed gearbox and could hit top speed 140 Mph. It could run from 0-60 Mph in merely nine seconds. It had three Solex carburettors fitted along with Dunlop disc brakes and a limited slip differential and also had independent suspension in all sides.

The back-up car was re-painted blue and decorated with garish 007 decals. Toyota bought and restored it and now it forms a central part of their factory museum.
